What brought you to CrossFit Apogee?
We were members of a Crossfit affiliate in Murfreesboro, TN and really enjoyed it. We found Apogee through a google search and just lucked out that it was a good one filled with people who care about you getting better every day.

What was your first impression?
Don was the first person we met. He was a very outgoing and sincere person that made us feel welcome day one. This attitude continued on with Don and Lisa as they were Amber and my regular coaches. Their instruction was always encouraging, but always watchful to insure you did not get hurt. This outstanding coaching continued with the addition of Heather to the 0830 Coaching team.

What was your first Bright Spot (or something you were happy you finally did)?
During the two weeks of maxing out WODs and Lifts I began to RX the majority of my Workouts. This is a huge step forward for me.

What changes have you noticed in yourself since you joined the Apogee Family?
Approximately a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with a mental issue stemming from multiple deployments to Iraq. Six months later I was medically retired from the Army. I was having trouble waking up in the morning, fighting depression, and heavily medicated. My beautiful wife became the primary breadwinner and supported me as I healed. She Is a medical provider and encouraged me to do something physical. Healthy body equals healthy mind. When I got here I felt like I was starting from ground zero. Had trouble doing the most basic of exercises. This was unusual for me as I was a fairly fit Soldier. I always had high physical fitness scores and represented my unit in the Best Sapper Competition in 2010( A competition were the best Engineers in the Army compete). With all that said, the Coaches (Don, Lisa, and Heather) of Crossfit Apogee continued to encourage me and push me at every workout. 2 months ago I was taken off of one of my medication and told that I am no longer showing symptoms of one of the issues, and the other is under control. The doctor credited a strong family support system and a continuous, challenging work out regiment. Crossfit Apogee has provided a better quality of life for me.

What is your favorite Apogee memory?

We did the 100 kettle bell swings a little while back and I beat Steve. Only work out I have beat him at so it is kind of a big deal.
