What brought you to CrossFit Apogee?

Since I was a child, fitness has always been an important part of my life. My Dad was an athlete and passed his love of fitness (and good Italian food) down to my sister and me. I played all kinds of sports as a kid and was always active in the gym as an adult. I eventually picked up CrossFit for a few months, while my husband and I were living in Washington, DC. When we moved to FL and I saw there was a box down the street from our house, I decided to get back into it.

What was your first impression?

I was intimidated at first, but quickly fell in love with the gym, the workouts and the people. The workouts really have pushed me to be a better version of myself. I love that our box includes members that are a variety of different ages and skill levels. It was truly inspiring and I felt at home immediately.

What was your first Bright Spot (or something you were happy you finally did)?

It was crazy how much my PR’s were improving that first year. However, I think the day I did my first double under was pretty special. I called my husband from the car before I even got home. He is a weightlifter as well, so he shared in my excitement.

What changes have you noticed in yourself since you joined the Apogee Family? 

I have noticed an improvement in my strength most of all, both internally and externally. I have more confidence in the things I do not only at the gym, but also in my work and personal life. There are very few things that I feel I can’t accomplish with time, except maybe running a marathon. But honestly, who wants to do that?

What is your favorite Apogee memory? 

There are so many good ones! I love all my weekend WOD memories, where we have worked out and consumed food afterward. What can I say? I like my deadlifts with a side of peanut butter waffles. Although, my favorite of all favorite memories was when we did the dragon boat race together at Mira Bay. We weren’t very good at first, but we eventually improved enough to not get last place! Dragon boat racing was always a bucket list item for me, so I loved every minute of it
