What brought you to CrossFit Apogee?
What made me give Apogee a try was my work responsibilities had changed as my business had grown. I had gone from doing a lot of the physical work to more sedentary work (proposals, etc.) and delegating. My physical condition paid the price. So when I got out of breath tying my shoes, I had had enough.

 I saw Apogee driving by, as it is right around the corner from my shop and decided I would stop in and ask some questions. I had heard some things about Crossfit (mostly negative), so I was a concerned I would not even be able to do the workouts.

But after I stopped by and heard about the scaling options, and the on ramp to see if I could do the exercises, I thought I might like to try it.

I had mentioned to my daughter, Arianna, who works with me, that I needed to do something about my physical conditioning before it was too late. Since she was also wanting to get in shape, I asked her if she would like to join with me.

What was your first impression?
My first impression of Apogee was that it was a friendly, encouraging environment. The exercises were hard, but the coaches were always encouraging, and correcting my mistakes. It is more of a community, where members talk and encourage each other, not compete against each other.

What was your first Bright Spot (or something you were happy you finally did)?
My first bright spot at Apogee I would have to say is when I was finally able make it through an entire WOD, completing all the exercises. I could see the improvement in my conditioning.

What are you working on now?
Currently, I am still working on trying to improve on my technique, in particular my Olympic lifts. I have learned a lot about exercise at Apogee, and have since been able to acquire my CF-LV1 certification (another bright spot).

What is your favorite Apogee memory?
My favorite Apogee memory- there are several, so its hard to pick. I especially enjoyed participating in the Savage Race with several other Apogee members, making the 400 lb deadlift and 300 lb back squat clubs, but probably my favorite was participating in WOD WARs in Dunedin recently, again with a group of fellow Apogee members. It was something I could not even imagine being able to do just a year ago.

 Crossfit and Apogee have made a huge difference in my life. I have met a lot of great people, and through clean eating and exercise, veen able to shed over 45 lbs and really get back to being a healthier person.
