What brought you to CrossFit?

Several years ago my husband was introduced to CrossFit. I watched how it kept him in shape and his severe arthritis at bay. I figured if he enjoyed it and he was in great shape then I had to try it. I took the intro class and immediately had to sign up for on ramp and I have not looked back.

What was your first impression?

I was very nervous to take the intro class. I was used to weight lifting but some of the movements are much different then I was used to and everyone was so fit and I at the time was not. But everyone was super nice and encouraging.

What was your first Bright Spot (or something you were happy you finally did)?

It is hard to pick a bright spot because every time I earn a new PR I’m amazed that I could do it. But if I have to pick just one it would be when I PR’ed on my squat clean at 75 lbs. It also happened to the be first time I was able to do the movement completely without a pause between the clean and the squat.

What are you working on now?

I am working on catching up with Lisa in the snatch department. I have always struggled with getting more than 55 lbs.

What is your favorite Apogee memory?

My favorite memory is the friends I have made, Apogee has finally made Tampa feel a little more like home, and watching people break barriers they never thought they could accomplish. Myself included.
