What brought you to CrossFit Apogee?
I wanted something for myself where I could go to relieve stress and have some “me” time. I passed the box on a daily basis to and from work and thought why not. I even convinced my sister and friend to try it.
What was your first impression?
I was very intimidated at first. That annoying little voice in my head wouldn’t stop with the crossfit jokes. I kept telling myself I was nuts and to try Zumba (btw I’ve tried Zumba and it’s no joke, those girls can move). After my first on ramp workout though, I was hooked.
What was your first Bright Spot (or something you were happy you finally did)? I was ecstatic when I tried the rope climb. It was scary because I felt like I was slipping and was going to fall but I didn’t. I did a little happy dance (at home) that night.
What changes have you noticed in yourself since you joined the Apogee Family?
So many changes on the inside as well as the outside. I feel great and have so much energy now. I’m noticing muscles that I didn’t even know existed and I’m getting stronger every day. My son Kamran sees me do the workouts and wants to practice handstands, burpees, and push-ups at home. It’s an amazing feeling when your kids take notice and want to be just like you.
What is your favorite Apogee memory?
So many wonderful memories, but the one that sticks the most is when I participated in the open. The thruster and burpee workout was intense, I still have nightmares about it. I was ready to give up mid workout but one of the other athletes kept motivating me and pushed me to finish, which I did! 🙂
